Not only does it come with all the standard features of the BioPro RedTop (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip but also includes the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment which can also be mounted atop the (P1200-OFB), (P1250-OFB), (P1200-DLX) or (P1250-DLX) Over Flow Box Filters, (P150-BTF), (P250-HYD), (P350-BTF) or (P450-BTF) Biologic Trapping Filters .

The (P191-MTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Manual Soak Feeder Attachment is an assembly which consists of Two basic parts: the (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip, and the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment.

The (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip assembly is designed to clip-on and rest upon any aquarium, sump or pond tank wall. By removing the Soak Feeder Attachment Cap from the body, it is then possible to pour food directly into the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment and Soak Feeder Attachment Paddle combo unit until the body is nearly full.

Replace the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment Cap so that it clicks in place on the Soak Feeder Attachment Paddle and then turn the Soak Feeder Attachment Cap arrow to the desired feeding schedule indicator position for twice a day or three times a day feeding.in two complete rotations side to side, this allows for the inner-spin of the Soak Feeder Attachment Paddles inside.

With each complete turn of the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment Cap the body dispenses a partial serving of food from the hole which is centrally positioned in it’s bottom. Once released from the bottom of the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment, the food enters and then falls down through the attached (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip soak feeder tube, (here the food follows the same path as any additives or fill water would).

Arriving at the bottom of the (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip soak feeder tube, the food is then transferred down into the soak feeder chamber which is located directly below the soak feeder tube and positioned in the feeder body. Once in this chamber, the food is shuttled (via added water injection from the side slots in the soak feeder neck), and downward through the feeder body bottom itself where the external food release opening is positioned.

It is here at the bottom of the feeder tube were the flow of added food passes from the external food release opening and directly into the water column of the habitat chamber area.

The BioPro RedTop (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip can be mounted with the optional (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment. This creates the (P191-MTC) Manual Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip with (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment.

The unit provides submerged feeding for aquatic inhabitants as well as a convenient location for adding Top-Off and Fill water to your system after evaporation has taken place. Once clipped on the (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip slides effortlessly to any position where food distribution is preferred.

In addtion, the optional (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment main body housing can be clipped onto, and rest upon, the (P190-FTC) Top-Off and Fill Submerged Sliding Soak Feeder Tank Wall Clip or any of the (P1200-OFB), (P1250-OFB), (P1200-DLX) or (P1250-DLX) Over Flow Box Filters‘  top-off fill and soak feeder Attachment ports. This allows the aquarist to bypass pouring food directly into the main tank/habitat chamber containment area or external filter system, (avoiding the locations of lights, filters and glass or acrylic tops), and adding food directly into the main tank/habitat chamber containment area via the overflow box filter top enclosure, where they are cyclonically premixed by direct water injection at the cyclonic supply-in pipe head release port where the food is spun and pre-soaked prior to its release from the submerged top-off water fill, additive, and food release port.

By removing the Soak Feeder  main body cap from the associated soak feeder attachment main body housing, it is then possible to pour food directly into the soak feeder attachment main body housing chamber, and with the optional soak feeder attachment main body housing paddle still in place, until the soak feeder attachment main body housing chamber is full.

Allow room for the re-seating of the  soak feeder attachment main body housing cap.

When the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment main body housing chamber is full, and the soak feeder attachment main body housing cap is replaced so that it clicks in place atop the soak feeder attachment main body housing paddles, the main body housing cap can be twisted back and forth, or rotated completely around 180 degrees, until the housing cap arrow returns back to its original indicator position.

The twisting action of the housing paddles dispenses a premeasured serving of food from the main body housing holes which are located in the bottom of the soak feeder attachment main body housing.

Once the premeasured food is released from the (P195-MSF) Manual Soak Feeder Attachment main body housing holes, the food enters, and then falls down, to follow the same path through the pre-soak food and top-off water pre-release tube before reaching the submerged release port and  then into the main tank/habitat chamber containment area.

Added Science:

The swim bladder, or air bladder, is a buoyancy organ which most fish have. The swim bladder is located in the body cavity of the fish, and is derived from an out-pocketing of the digestive tube. This organ contains oxygen and functions similarly to a hydrostatic, or ballast.

The organ also enables fish to maintain their depth within the main tank/habitat chamber containment area water column, without upward floating or the opposite, a slow sinking effect.

By using the submerged soak feeder features of the over flow box filter, the aquarist can now reduce fluctuations in the buoyancy of their fish by eliminating the top water feeding habits which in many cases, causes the submerged feeding animals, (which normally feed mid-level or the bottom), to gulp in excessive air when they are higher up in the water column and surface feeding. This extra air can then enter their bladders, become trapped, and cause buoyancy issues and stress.

By submerging and pre-soaking any added food prior to its delivery into the main habitat area, and the food being offered out to these types of lower feeding creatures, the overall health and nourishment of the animals is better guaranteed.

There is also the inherent benefit of having any food or additive which arrives pre-submerged into the main tank/habitat chamber containment area circulate down lower into the water column where most animals tend to feed. This being a much more practical application for feeding than having the food or additive float across the water column top surface where it can rapidly bypass the main tank/habitat chamber containment area altogether, and be introduced into top surface skimmers, corner boxes, and/or other standard tank filters.
