FILTER SYSTEM
EPS EXTERNAAL PRIMING SYSTEM HAND HELD PRIME BULB
Referring next to the manual priming system, the priming air-control valve which is connected to the push-on, supply line-in, port adapter connection tower and the priming line, air-control valve tubing and then to the priming line siphon bulb which can then be squeezed to begin manual priming.
With the top cover housing removed, plug in and switch on the power to theexternal sump/filter system. Use two fingers to pull up and free the end of the priming line, air-control valve tubing which is located down inside the sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing.
Connect the priming line siphon bulb to the free end of the priming line, air-control valve tubing which can then be manually squeezed to begin priming.
With the use of a cup or container, transfer a small amount of water into the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing until the water level rises up and breaches the dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connections.
Discontinue adding additional water when the over flow water begins to travel freely down the drain line-out pipe tubing.
Turn the priming valve counter-clockwise several times to open up the valve completely. Now squeeze the priming line siphon bulb multiple times until the main tank/habitat chamber containment area water in the main tank/habitat chamber containment area begins entering the front of the over flow box filter bottom housing via its front and side surface water skimming slots.
Once the water passes into the front of the over flow box filter bottom housing and is drawn up, and into, the inflow slot/(s) which are located at the front base of the over-the-wall water transfer chase construction, then up and over the main tank/habitat chamber containment area wall, and then down and out through the outflow slot/(s) located at the rear base of the over-the-wall water transfer chase construction, and into the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing.
When the priming tower and priming line air-control valve tubing doesn’t show the appearance of water and there are no air bubbles present in the priming line, air-control valve tubing, then turn the priming air-control valve clockwise several times to close the valve completely.
Disconnect the priming line siphon bulb from the priming line, air-control valve tubing and set it aside. Return the free end of the priming line, air-control valve tubing back into its original location down within the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing.
With the manual priming system now fully primed and being continuously gravity fed, the water in the main tank/habitat chamber containment area will flow through to the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing unheeded.
Look at, and carefully run the tip of your finger around all external connections to check for any evident leaks or seepage that might be present. Continue this process as you follow the path of the water as it travels down to the external sump/filter system and address any leaks or seepage by tightening any loose connections and recheck. If no leaks or seepage is present, proceed to the next step.
Referring next to the optional electronic priming system, which incorporates a finger prime push button with bubble check, batteries, and electric prime embodiment with automatic prime push button on/off switch.
Connect the free end of the auto prime siphon line-into the siphon line bottom box connector which in turn is mounted to the siphon line-in tower nipple fitting.
Allow the auto prime siphon drain/weep line to be lowered into the rear of the box bottom housing after the auto priming box is slid onto the auto priming box mounting slot. Once assembled, the finger prime push button with bubble check which is used to check for air seepage into the auto priming system, and can be installed on the auto siphon line connecting tower to complete the optional electronic priming system.
Use a cup or container to transfer a small amount of water into the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing until the water level rises up and breaches the dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connections.
Discontinue adding additional water when the over flow water begins to travel freely down the drain line-out pipe tubing.
Press in the electric priming box automatic prime push button on/off switch until the main tank/habitat chamber containment area in the main tank/habitat chamber containment area begins entering the front of the over flow box filter bottom housing via its front and side surface skim slots.
Once the water passes into the front of the over flow box filter bottom housing, the water is drawn up and over the over-the-wall water transfer chase construction and then into the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing.
When the over-the-wall water transfer chase construction and the rear sump area of the over flow box filter bottom housing are flowing freely, discontinue pressing on the electric priming box automatic prime push button on/off switch completely.
Next, press down on the finger prime push button with bubble check repeatedly to verify that no air is present within theover-the-wall water transfer chase construction. When no air bubbles show to be present, the optional electronic system is primed.
Check back periodically and press down on the finger prime push button with bubble check to occasionally verify that no air has accumulated within the over-the-wall water transfer chase construction over time.
With both the manual priming system and the optional electronic priming system now fully primed and being continuously gravity fed, the water in the main tank/habitat chamber containment area will flow over the wall to the external sump/filter system as fast as the pump from the external sump/filter system sump can circulate the water back into the main tank/habitat chamber containment area.
Referring to the manual prime over flow box filter with EPS External Priming System. Before securing the over flow box filter in a suitable location which provides access to the main tank/habitat chamber containment area, pond or aquarium,(usually at the water’s edge), on a stand, bracket, or by straddling the specifically designed unit over the top back wall or the top side wall, using its edge wall mount slide, remove the top cover housing and set it aside.
If the manual prime over flow box filter push-on, supply line-in, port adapter connection tower (If the external sump/filter system is not already sump-pump connected and ready to tie into the manual prime over flow box filter, or optional electric prime overflow box filter conversion controller kit, then slide the supply line-in clamp over, and two inches down, onto the external sump/filter system pump end of the supply line-in pipe tubing).
Next, slide the supply line-in pipe tubing onto the sump-pump head supply port or extension of the external sump/filter system and secure it in place using a supply line-in clamp by using a screwdriver to twist its supply line-in clamp lock-screw until snug.
Referring back to the push-on, supply line-in, port adapter connection tower manual over flow box filter bottom housing and electronic over flow filter box bottom housing being similar.
Slide the supply line-in clamp over and two inches down on the external sump/filter system supply line-in pipe and carefully push/twist-on snugly the supply line-in pipe tubing onto the push-on, supply line-in, port adapter connection slide supply line-in clamp up into the supply line-in clamp access slot until it is seated against the over flow box filter bottom housing.
Using the supply line-in clamp access, take a screwdriver and twist the supply
12 line-in clamp lock-screw until snug. (This completes the installation tie-in for the water supply-in from the external sump/filter system to the manual prime over flow box filter version with the optional electric prime overflow box filter conversion controller kit being typical.)
Referring next to the dual push-n-lock drain line-out connections. (These connections are specifically designed to be press fit only, no pipe clamps are required for these connections.)
If the external sump/filter system is not already sump drain line-in connected and ready to tie into the over flow box filter, then Slide a standard drain line-in clamp over and two inches down onto the external sump/filter system sump/filter end of the drain line-out pipe tubing.
Next, slide the drain line-out pipe tubing onto the sump drain line-in port connector of the external sump/filter system and secure it in place using a drain line-in clamp/(s) by using a screwdriver to twist its supply line-in clamp lock-screw until snug.)
Referring back to the dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connections.
Carefully push/twist-on snugly, (one or two depending on the external sump/filter configuration), drain line-out pipe tubing into one or both of the dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connections. (If only one dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connection is desired, install the drain line-out push-on drain port connection plug seal, and drain line-out push-on drain port connection plug cap in place atop the unused dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connection.)
When the Y-pipe dual push-n-lock drain line-out port adapter is used for configuring dual drains to the single drain line-out pipe tubing, simply push the Y-pipe dual push-n-lock drain line-out port adapter into the dual push-n-lock drain line-out port connections until it is fully seated.
Next, carefully push/twist-on snugly, the drain line-out pipe tubing into the single bottom port connection of the Y-dual push-n-lock drain line-out port adapter.
The Y-dual push-n-lock drain line-out port adapter is also specifically designed to be press fit only, no pipe clamps are required for its connections. (This completes the installation process tie-in for the water drain-out from the manual prime over flow box filter, with the optional electric prime overflow box filter conversion controller kit being typical to the external sump/filter system.)
When configuring multiple over flow box filter units and having two, four, six or eight drains available, allows for the creation of a “redundancy” type of multiple over flow box filter system framework, which increases the system’s protection against overfilling of the main tank/habitat chamber containment area should any single drain become clogged or fail for some reason during use.
When multiple over flow box filter units are used, this simultaneously decreases each of the individual drains capacity limits for the total drainage of the overall main tank/habitat chamber containment area while increasing the reliability and stability of the overall drainage system.
